I'm thrilled to be taking part in the first York Literature Festival. 'Stranger than Fiction: Writing a True Life Story' takes place on Thursday 8 March at York Library (Biography Room), 1-2pm and it's free!

I'll be reading from my crime/true life book, Dangerous Love, a personal memoir set in the early 1980s about my relationship with lifer Tim Franklin and talking about the journey I underwent in writing and investigating the story.

The event is timed to coincide with International Women's Day, because I specifically want to address the book's theme of domestic abuse. Writing about my experiences proved unexpectedly redemptive for me and many women have since told me that reading Dangerous Love has helped them, too.

There are literary events taking place all around the city from 28 February until 15 March - a booklet is available from Yortime and local libraries or go to: http://www.yortime.org.uk/yortime/asp/events_search_results.asp?groupname=&groupid=&txtStartDate=&txtKeyword=&selCategory=9&pageno=5
